Team Ninja has revealed that Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty will have DLSS support, but there are limits to crossplay.

Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty will be released on PC, Xbox Series S, Xbox Series S, PlayStation 4, and PlayStation 5 on March 5, 2023. It will be part of Game Pass upon launch. Team Ninja producers Fumihiko Yasuda and Masaaki Yamagiwa revealed certain features that the game will have across these platforms.

In an interview with WCCFTech, the two explained the features that the game will have exclusive to PC.

“Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty will have mouse and keyboard support on PC, as well as Nvidia DLSS. At the moment, however, we cannot say if it will be available at launch, as with Nioh 2, or if it will be implemented at a later time with a patch, as with Stranger of Paradise: Final Fantasy Origin.”

DLSS stands for deep learning super sampling. This is a technology that leverages the unique abilities of the Nvidia RTX cards and ray tracing to upscale video games. Basically this technology renders games at lower resolutions, and then upscales them. DLSS sounds like it’s best suited for low power CPUs. In fact, the technology works great on the most powerful computers, to raise the graphics quality of the latest games, without having to use as much power.

While this is great news for people who have Nvidia RTX on their computers, Xbox and PlayStation gamers are not going to benefit from it. That’s because both consoles run on AMD hardware. AMD has their rival upscaler technology, FSR, that works a different way but does essentially the same thing. In fact, FSR has been essential for the Xbox Series S to catch up to other consoles in its generation. Speaking of consoles, Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty has a multiplayer component, and so players will be able to play together if they are using the same console. However, there will be limits on playing across different consoles.

“Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty will support cross-generation multiplayer, allowing users on PS5 and PS4 or Xbox Series X | S and Xbox One to play together. Cross-platform between PlayStation and Xbox users will not be supported.”

It’s certainly a little strange to be talking about crossplay limits when we recently reported that Activision is forcing Xbox and PC players to stay on cross platform crossplay for Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2. Obviously, Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty is a considerably different game, and to be frank, it is at a different budget, and targeting a different segment of gamers, so maybe it doesn’t make sense to invest in that crossplay for Koei Tecmo. We’re sure it will still be a great experience for fans of Soulslike and masocore games.
