Black Myth: Wukong has been one of gaming's biggest success stories in 2024, already smashing records and milestones within months of its release. This Chinese fantasy game puts players in the shoes The Destined One, a martial-arts monkey seeking to emulate the great Sun Wukong. While not exactly an open-world game, Black Myth: Wukong does feature several large, interconnected hub worlds for players to explore, complete with their own unique environments, enemies, and side quests.
Black Myth Wukong: Strongest Bosses According To The Lore, Ranked
While there are a lot of difficult bosses in Black Myth: Wukong, the toughest bosses aren't always the strongest ones, at least in terms of lore.
Players won't be given any quest markers or simplified guidance in Black Myth: Wukong. Instead, side quests, and their rewards, can only be found by exploring and paying close attention to what is said in the game's dialogue and cutscenes. When sought out, each side quest is well worth the effort, providing players with new locations, bosses, equipment, and plenty of valuable experience along the way.
8 Three Bells
Key Rewards: Fireproof Mantle
- Location: Black Wind Mountain
The Three Bells side quest is available during Chapter One, but it can only be completed once players have defeated the Whiteclad Noble at the end of Bamboo Grove. The quest will begin when players interact with any of three large bells at either the Forest of Wolves (Outside the Forest) or the Bamboo Grove (Snake Trail/Marsh of the White Mist).
The first two bells are relatively easy to find, since players will come across them by following the main roads, but the third bell is hidden to the left of the Whiteclad Noble's location. It is worth seeking out each of the three bells, as they lead to a hidden boss fight, a new location, and the Fireproof Mantle, a Legendary vessel providing unparalleled Burn resistance.
7 The Drunken Boar

The Drunken Boar is a questline players are likely to come across in Chapter Two while exploring Rockrest Flat in Fright Cliff. The Venom Daoist side quest is a two-part boss fight which players can find in Chapter Four by heading to the Pool of Shattered Jade. Much like the Man-In-Stone quest in Chapter 2, players will need to beat the Venom Daoist out of a cocoon in order to initiate the battle with him.
