Black Myth Wukong: Best Vessels That Should Be Left For The Hardest Bosses

浙江小狐狸玩具有限公司 发表于

Key Takeaways

  • Obtain Vessels Fireproof Mantle (Ch. 1), Wind Tamer (Ch. 2) and Weaver’s Needle (Ch. 4) through side quests.
  • Vessels use Qi, independent of mana, for powerful effects like immunity to status ailments and increased damage reduction.
  • Prioritize Vessels to make the journey easier, especially against bosses using specific Vessels tailored to the challenges.

There are four Vessels in Black Myth: Wukong that become available at different points in the storyline. Players can get three of them — Fireproof Mantle (Chapter 1), Wind Tamer (Chapter 2), and Weaver’s Needle (Chapter 4) — by engaging in side quests. The fourth, Plantain Fan, is unmissable as it is directly awarded to them at the end of Chapter 5.

These Black Myth: Wukong Vessels have incredibly strong but situational uses, along with passive effects that are always helpful. What’s also important to note is that they use Qi, which is completely independent of mana. Qi is also used for Spirits in Black Myth: Wukong. As such, they can fill up the “meter” for both by normal attacks or use the Mobile Spin for a very fast recharge. All put together, the various Vessels are incredibly powerful and should not be slept on.

Although players are free to get the optional Vessels whenever they want, going after them as soon as possible can make the journey much easier.

4 Fireproof Mantle

Burn Resistance and Immunity to Scorch Damage on Select Terrain

The Fireproof Mantle is the first obtainable Vessel in Black Myth: Wukong. Since its effects grant increased Burn Resistance or outright immunity from fire-based status ailments, it is essential when going up against bosses or environments that depend on these.

For starters, beating the Chapter 1 final boss Black Bear Guai can become frustrating. What makes this fight difficult is that the bear’s hits inflict Burn damage, and it covers a good chunk of the area in fire. As such, the Vessel becomes important in helping players last longer in the fight.

Qi is an energy that players will earn as they fight enemies in Black Myth: Wukong; here's how to recover it and use it.

The Fireproof Mantle is also the recommended Black Myth: Wukong Vessel for Chapter 5. The terrain is covered with lava and most enemies, not to mention bosses, are aggressive and heavily rely on fire damage. Bosses like Rusty-Gold Cart and Bishui Golden-Eyed Beast in the secret area, the Mother of Flamlings, penultimate boss Red Boy (who becomes the final boss Yaksha King), and even Chapter 6’s Feng-Tail General demand Fireproof Mantle as the equipped Vessel in Black Myth: Wukong.

3 Wind Tamer

Immunity to Wind Attacks and Amazing Damage Reduction

The Wind Tamer Vessel in Black Myth: Wukong can be acquired fairly early on, and its effects can change the outcome of many fights. It massively increases Damage Reduction upon activation, which is always a great thing. Its passive also increases this stat by a slight amount. While this isn’t much, it’s always helpful, since even some non-boss enemies are very aggressive. Even the activation itself stops most attacks and staggers enemies, giving players breathing room.

This Vessel also gives players immunity to wind or wind-based attacks. The case where the former becomes crucial is the fight against Black Myth: Wukong Chapter 2 final boss Yellow Wind Sage. Not only is it agile and aggressive, but its tornadoes cut down visibility and the sandstorm shrinks the area of combat. Saving the Vessel for the last phase or quickly building it up for a second use is recommended.

Black Myth: Wukong - All Gourds & Where To Find Them

Gourds are required to heal in Black Myth: Wukong, though many are hidden away throughout the game. Here is how players can acquire all of them.

Down the line, the Wind Tamer Vessel can be helpful against aerial enemies, since it brings them to the ground and makes them easier to deal with. It is also recommended for use against bosses like Chapter 1’s secret boss Red Loong, to stagger it down from the air. It's also useful for Chapter 5’s Fast as Wind, Quick as Fire, and Chapter 6’s Cloudtreading Deer. The activation can nip combos and wind-based attacks in the bud, and the increased Damage Reduction can help players last longer in Black Myth: Wukong's fights.

2 Weaver’s Needle

Great for Crit Builds and Constant Homing Damage

The Weaver’s Needle is recommended for players who are adept at the game’s combat rhythm. It doesn’t have purely defensive measures like the others do. Since it increases Critical Hit Chance and Critical Hit Damage, it can help players take down enemies. The Weaver’s Needle’s active effect lasts for a decent amount of time and constantly attacks enemies, even staggering them in some cases. The Crit value applies to the needle as well, which means it can deal Crit Damage too.

The first and most important usage of this Vessel is with the Black Myth: Wukong Chapter 4 final boss, Hundred-Eyed Daoist Master. At the start of the final phase, the enemy is buffed and the Destined One’s stamina is debuffed. The attacks also get more lethal and unpredictable. The Weaver’s Needle helps shatter the effect and stagger the boss to make it vulnerable. Through this, the constant damage, and the increased stats, players will have an easier time with the Hundred-Eyed Daoist Master than they would otherwise.

Black Myth: Wukong features 21 unique weapons to collect, and here are some of the best for critical damage builds.

The Weaver’s Needle Vessel isn’t a direct counter to as many bosses as the others, but its constant ranged damage and Crit increase can be very helpful. The Fireproof Mantle and the Wind Tamer are more situational. However, the Weaver’s Needle can be used against almost any boss for chip damage. It is more helpful against enemies where Burn Resistance (or even Damage Reduction) can be done away with. Those like Chapter 5’s Keeper of the Flaming Mountains & Yin-Yang Fish and Chapter 6’s Poison Chiefs are particular highlights.

1 Plantain Fan

Homes in on Enemies to Break Guard and Stagger

  • How to Get: Kill Chapter 5 final boss Yaksha King.
  • Active Effect: Creates a hurricane that homes in and continuously staggers.
  • Passive Effect: Moderately increases stamina regeneration.

Many players feel that the Plantain Fan is the best Vessel in Black Myth: Wukong. The hurricane created by the active effect extinguishes any fire if present in the area, which makes it helpful against fire-based enemiesl. The passive effect, however, makes it impactful against any enemy, no matter ground-based or aerial. The hurricane homes in on the target and breaks their guard, staggering them and leaving them open to be attacked without any consequences.

Black Myth: Wukong— How To Get All Pieces Of Sun Wukong's Armor (Best Armor)

Sun Wukong's armor is by far and above the most powerful armor in Black Myth: Wukong.

The Plantain Fan’s most popular use is to break Erlang Shen’s “shields.” The secret boss is infamous for his regenerative shield bar that needs to be taken down to deal finisher combos. His aggressiveness is also a big concern. Fortunately, both measures are cut down by the Plantain Fan Vessel. His other attacks are devastating as well, but the Plantain Fan is almost always the chosen item for this boss fight.

As mentioned earlier, this Vessel is a good pick for other bosses as well. For example, extinguishing flames and locking in Chapter 6’s Supreme Instructor, the game’s final story boss, or even those like Chapter 2’s Tiger Vanguard, Chapter 4’s Yellow Loong, and Chapter 5’s Bishui Golden-Eyed Beast if still unbeaten (or from scratch in an NG+ run). The Plantain Fan is always a good Vessel to pick in Black Myth: Wukong when looking to stagger bosses and stop their aggressive combos.
