Secret Locations In Chapter 1 Of Black Myth: Wukong

Chapter 1 features a hidden area that can only be unlocked by ringing three special Bells. If you've been exploring Chapter 1 thoroughly, you'll probably stumble upon two of the bells before you even hear about them.

After you defeat the Whiteclad Noble, he’ll mention that you can ring these bells to unlock a secret area. Here’s where you can find the three bells:

  1. Inside the Guangzhi boss arena (Outside The Forest, Forest Of Wolves)
  2. Up the stairs from the Guangmou boss arena (Snake Trail, Bamboo Grove)
  3. On the left path from the Whiteclad Noble boss arena (Marsh of White Mist, Bamboo Grove)

You can ring the three Bells in any order you want. Ringing the third Bell will instantly take you to a new secret area, called the Ancient Guanyin Temple. This secret location is a glimpse into the past of the Guanyin Temple. Here, you can battle the Elder Jinchi boss.

Secret Bosses In Chapter 1 of Black Myth: Wukong

There are two secret bosses in Chapter 1 of Black Myth: Wukong.

Elder Jinchi

The Elder Jinchi Yaoguai King is a secret boss residing in a hidden area of Chapter 1. To unlock this area, you need to find and ring all three Bells scattered throughout the three regions of Chapter 1. The rewards for beating Elder Jinchi are the Fireproof Mantle and 2,000 Will.

The Elder Jinchi is somewhat similar to the Wandering Wight in Black Myth: Wukong and shares some of the same moves. However, he hits harder and can absorb his zombie-like minions to heal himself. Make sure to dodge his attacks and aim at the surrounding corpses to restore some of your health.

After defeating this secret boss, you'll be returned to the bell near the Whiteclad Noble in the Marsh of the White Mist.

The Red Loong

The Red Loong is another secret boss, who can be found in Chapter 1, hidden behind a waterfall near the Outside of the Forest Shrine in the Forest of The Wolves. The boss is initially inaccessible until you obtain a specific item called Loong Scales, which you’ll find in Chapter 2 while exploring the Yellow Wind Ridge.

Once you have the Loong Scales, travel back to the Shrine and use them to enter the waterfall. Doing so will reveal a hidden arena where you can fight The Red Loong. Red Loong is one of four Loong Dragons and is more powerful than any other boss in Black Wind Mountain. You can get a Loong Pearl, Thunder Tail, and the Boshan Censer Curio by defeating this secret boss.

Missable Items In Chapter 1 of Black Myth: Wukong

Wandering Wight Spirit

While the Wandering Wight boss isn’t really a secret, his Spirit is easy to miss. You’ll find this large-headed creature patrolling a clearing near the ‘Outside the Forest’ Shrine in the Forest of Wolves. Since it’s an optional boss, it can be tempting to just skip the fight and continue on to the next part of Chapter 1: Black Cloud, Red Fire, but then you’ll miss out on one of the best Spirits in the game.

As such, make sure you beat the Wandering Wight before ringing the bells and collect his spirit. Even though you won’t be able to use the Wandering Wight Spirit until you get the Gourd later in the chapter, missing this boss entirely will prevent you from ever getting his valuable spirit.

Fireproof Mantle Vessel

Similar to the Wandering Wight’s Spirit, the Fireproof Mantle Vessel is an item you get after defeating Elder Jinchi. Once you defeat this boss, interact with the wolf that hangs from the nearby tree to get the Fireproof Mantle. You could easily miss this item if you choose to ignore the three bells and continue on to the next chapter.

The Fireproof Mantle Vessel is an incredibly useful item to have. When equipped, it significantly increases the wearer's resistance to Burn damage, meaning they will take less damage from fire-based attacks or environments. Additionally, this vessel grants complete immunity to Scorch damage from lava-covered terrain.

Meditation Spots

While they’re not exactly secret, you may miss a few Meditation Spots if you’re rushing through Chapter 1. There are three Meditation Spots in Chapter 1 where you can rest, heal, and get extra Sparks. Here’s where you can find them.

  1. Take down the Bullguard and follow the path until you reach a wooden shrine to find the first Meditation Spot.
  2. Defeat Lingxuzi and enter a cave with a Boar NPC to find the second Meditation Spot.
  3. Defeat Whiteclad Noble and explore the wooden platform for the third Meditation Spot.
