Poison is one of the Four Bane effects in the game that enemies and bosses can inflict on the player. However, the opposite can also happen, which is where the Poison Bane build comes in. This build brings out every tool the game gives the player, which can help increase the overall Poison damage on top of inflicting the Bane itself.
As Poison deals damage over time and persists for quite some time, players can play around this. This comprehensive guide includes details on all the equipment one needs and general strategies when using the build.

Best Equipment For Poison Build
Weapon Choices
Firstly, when it comes to the weapon, it depends on what playthrough you are. The best option for this build is the Adept Spine-Shooting Fuban Staff , which you can craft in NG+. This staff has a high Critical Chance of 25% and attacks nearby enemies with spines upon each Focus Point used as a Heavy Attack on an enemy. Crafting the weapon requires three Sky-Piercing Horns, which you can get from defeating Fuban, The Scorpionlord, and the Hundred-Eyed Daoist Master.
If you are on your first playthrough, you can use the Spider Celestial Staff , an upgrade of the Chitin Staff . It recovers health on Focus Points, similar to the Spine-Shooting Staff, but it can also inflict the enemy with Poison Bane if you are in the Poisoned state. The Critical Chance of this weapon is half of the NG+ staff, but you can craft it during the latter half of the fourth chapter.
Vessel, Spirit, and Armor
For the Vessel, you can go for Weaver's Needle , which has a High Qi cost and increases Critical Hit Chance and Critical Damage when equipped. The Spirit choice is the Scorpion Prince , which increases the Poison damage you deal when equipped, and using it in Combat allows you to deal Poison Damage in an area by piercing your Scorpion tail on the enemies.
The Centipede Qiang-Jin Armor is the only reasonable option for the Armor because it reduces the damage received and increases the damage dealt to enemies in the Poisoned State. However, players must equip the whole four-piece to meet this bonus effect. Regarding the Armguard, the Venomous Armguard is a better option, which also counts as the set bonus.
Curios, Gourds, and Drinks
The Supreme Gourd is the best option as it has 10 Sips, and you need quite a lot not only for healing but also to self-inflict Poison. For the Drink, you can choose Loong Balm for the additional damage on the next track and four Soak slots. Tiger Relic and Deathstinger (Consumable) Soaks are a must to increase the overall damage of the build further.
When selecting Curios, Amber Prayer Beads is a good option as it increases the Focus you gain and can be acquired in Chapter 5. Spine in the Sack and Beast Buddha are both Curios that can be farmed from enemies, meaning that you can acquire multiple of them in the same playthrough and equip them. Other options for Curios are:
Best Skills For Poison Build
The skill that you need the most for this build is Mobile Spin. This ability allows players to spin their staff around, deflecting projectiles and moving forward. The Skills below Mobile Spin on the Tree reduces the Stamina cost for the Staff Spin and increases the Focus gained from successful hits with the Mobile Spin. As the staff choices do not favor any particular Stance, you can unlock the abilities of the Stance you are comfortable with. The Thurst Stance can be useful to create a distance from the enemy after using every Focus point.
You must also max out Critical Hit Chance and Critical Hit Damage under the Survival Tree in Foundations.
Black Myth: Wukong – 8 Weapons With Best Critical Hit Chance
Black Myth: Wukong features 21 unique weapons to collect, and here are some of the best for critical damage builds.
General Strategy For Poison Build
You can use enhancement pills before the fight to further bolster your offensive and defense. However, using your Gourd instantly is necessary because of the Deathstinger (Consumable) Soak. You will apply Poison to yourself but take less damage from that Bane because of the Armor set piece bonus. Because of your Armguard's passive, the enemy can become Poisoned upon Critical Hits that you have already invested quite a lot in.
Mobile Spin is your essential tool in this fight. As you hit the enemy multiple times and can go as long as you have Stamina, you can inflict Poison quickly. Mobile Spin fills up the Focus bar quickly and staggers most enemies, even bigger ones, for a few seconds. This lets you accumulate Focus, followed by a Charged Heavy attack or a Varied Combo. For bosses, you can use your Immbolize Spell to inflict Poison without having them retaliate during those few seconds. The Stranded Loong's Whisker is present in this build to increase the Duration of your Immobolize as well.
During the fight, even if you are not taking damage, you might lose health cause your Gourd inflicts Poison on you, so be careful of your health.
Using A Pluck of Many Spell can also be helpful, as your clones will help you increase the chances of inflicting Poison on the enemy, but only if their attacks are Critical Hits. The combination of Immobilize with A Pluck of Many can dish out a severe amount of damage.
