There was much to see and listen to if you played Bayonetta 3 when it came out late last year or got it recently. The reason for this was that this game was a long time coming, and PlatinumGames delivered on making things bigger, more bombastic, and more insane than ever before. The beloved Umbra Witch had her biggest challenge ahead of her in terms of saving the multiverse, and that required some “extra hands” to help her get through it. But one of the game’s standouts was the musical score, punctuated by the track “We Are As One.”

Rachael Hawnt did the song, and Nintendo decided to release a special music video showing off her singing, the team performing the song, and clips of Bayonetta 3 interwoven within. They do the full version of the song, so you’ll see quite a bit within it. So if you haven’t played the game yet, you’ll want to avoid this video as it has spoilers for the ending parts of the title.

As many commentators on the video noted, the track is well done, and Rachael Hawnt has an incredible voice. Some were even saying this track should be nominated for awards! We’ll let you be the judge of that one.

But as impressive as this song, and its performance, were, the scenes shown within highlight the “greater problem” that lies ahead for the franchise. Because at the end of the third title, Bayonetta dies, and her beloved Luca dies with her so they can be together forever in Inferno. It was a very bittersweet “ending” to an adored character. But then, not long after the game’s release, the Bayonetta Origins title was announced and seemed to indicate that things weren’t done with Bayonetta just yet.

Also adding to the mystery of it all was the game’s producer, Hideki Kamiya. He’s claimed that he’s already prepping to pitch a 4th mainline entry into the series, meaning the origins title isn’t that, and he would be up for doing nine main games in the series! He also hinted that the Umbra Witch might not be as “finished” as gamers think. Stating that he knows what will happen in the story next, and they don’t.

He is right about that, and if there is a way to pull Bayonetta out of Inferno, fans would be all for that. But we’ll have to wait and see when and how that would happen.
