NEW YORK— Cartoon Network Enterprises has appointed Mattel the global master toy licensee for its fantasy-adventure animated television series The Secret Saturdays.
Mattel will market a wide range of toys inspired by the new series, including action figures, playsets and role-play items. The line is expected to be available at mass retailers nationwide in fall 2009.
The Secret Saturdays debuted on Cartoon Network this October as a part of the network’s Friday night fantasy/adventure programming block, airing immediately before Star Wars: The Clone Wars. The series follows a family of world-saving cryptozoologists (known as the The Secret Saturdays) on their plight to discover cryptids and protect the world from evil.
“[The Secret Saturdays] has all the elements for a successful toy line including compelling characters, lots of action and an engaging storyline, and it provides Mattel a unique opportunity to create a fun and innovative line of toys that brings the series’ adventure and fantasy to life,” said Doug Wadleigh, Vice President of Action Play Marketing, Mattel Brands.
